The Foster Grandparent Program is open to people age 55 and over with limited incomes.  Foster Grandparent Volunteers serve as mentors, tutors, and caregivers for at-risk children and youth with special needs through a variety of community organizations, including schools, hospitals, drug treatment facilities, correctional institutions, Head Start centers and day-care centers.  Foster Grandparents volunteer between 15-40 hours per week, receive a modest tax-free stipend, reimbursement for transportation, meals during service, and accident and liability insurance while on duty.  The Foster Grandparent Program covers Franklin, Colbert, Lauderdale, Winston, and Marion Counties.
